- Before giving the description, I just wanted to mention that while this is a 'no-guarantee contest', it is really just for the client who is new to 99designs and a bit cautious. However, as you can see in the few contests I've run under this account in the past (as well as the many more I've run as a consultant for companies with their on 99designs accounts) a winner has always been awarded and of course paid.
Now on to the Description:
First of all, the one item you have to work with is the design of the new website the logo needs to fit in to. It needs to work with both the semi-transparent home-screen header, as well as the solid headers on the other pages. While we will be putting a darker version of the logo in the footer (which has a light background), we don't want compromises made on the version needing to go int he header.
Finally, I didn't include the old logo (when I old, it one done recently but is horrible), because, trust me you don't want your minds polluted with that before designing anything. So I am as sure as I can be that we'll have several designers that will produce great designers and it will be a touch call as to which one to go with rather than whether or not a winner is chosen.
We provide specialised form-work to building projects and or companies. http://quickstairaust.com.au as well as http://quickstairaust.com.au/canber…orm-stairs and http://quickstairaust.com.au/canber…-handrails probably give the best indication. We're a new company, however the founders are all highly experienced.
While the logos I've chosen in past contests have usually been something unexpected, if I had to describe what we're looking for it would be slightly modern, clean, professional and a little eye-catching.
Please note that the current logo in the site just a temporary place holder (and an obvious demonstration as to why I don't design logos myself...) the main purpose was to show the need for the winning logo to work in with both the semi-transparent blue of the home page, as well as the similarly coloured, but opaque blue header on the other pages. That is not to say it needs to be white: a) the logo doesn't need to eb the same colour as the menu and top bar text to look good, and b) I am open to changing the colours of those text elements if it does turn out better to match or contrast the colour of the winning design (unless it's white, which I'm not ruling out).
The logo also needs to be used in the background footer (it will probably end up a bit darker than where it is now) - however, I don't want this to be your focus, I will play around with the colour for the footer version later on.
Overall, with this content, we've left it fairly blank and are expecting the first round of designs to set the tone as to what is preferred, so don't hesitate to submit even early, crude drafts, as I will be working closely with the client and giving fast and as helpful feedback as I can. Designs we feel aren't what we're looking for in the early stages aren't going to have a negative impact on your chances, we'd prefer you take a chance and try again than and you'll give yourself better odds of understanding what we're leaning towards with that approach.
