"Cupheads" is the endorser of the "Bean of the Year" competition. I would like it to read:
Bean of the Year
So, "Cupheads" can be written in a different typeface, and color.
Incorporated into "Cupheads Bean of the Year" needs to be the year (e.g. 2017) so it is clear which year the competition is from.
The logo elements needs to be able to work well together in a tight bundle -- imagine it needs to fit a 2" sticker and say "Cupheads Bean of the Year 2017".
The logo needs to stand out well in color (I live red, or also like the combination of blue and yellow - a little like IKEA, but also am open to totally different suggestions). The logo will also need to work well in black and white.
I like the idea of using a ribbon or other device in some way. I also would like to inject some humor but in a very artful, sophisticated manner. I don't want to use an obvious reference to coffee -- so no big coffee bean, and no cup. I am open to ideas that reference coffee, but more subtly.
For the "Cupheads" typeface, I like the idea of it being hand-written, or a little crazy -- readable but a little rock and roll. On the other hand, "Bean of the Year" needs to be very readable, even in small sizes.
I would like the whole logo to look very distinctive, and even at small sizes, be highly recognizable.
To be clear, I am interested in logos that have strong typographic elements, but would be very interested in a distinctive symbol as long as you take into account my comments above (in other words, nothing too obvious). The inspiration I selected shows examples that combine words and visuals into a strong, locked up logo.
It is important that "Bean of the Year" is more visible than "Cupheads" because "Bean of the Year" is the focus of the logo, and is endorsed by "Cupheads".
Feel free to reach out to me with any questions or if you want more information or clarification.
I'm super excited to see your proposal, and thank you for participating!
