The Hartley Beauty Salon first opened its doors in 1990 and this year marks the salon's 25th anniversary.
But, whereas many long-established salons are still stuck in the dark ages, and are struggling to keep up with the increasing level of competition that is now emerging both locally and online, Hartley's is thriving more than ever and owner Ruth Hartley is determined to stay ahead of the game.
To Ruth, beauty is about making her clients feel truly special. She is extremely passionate about what she does and feels there is nothing more rewarding than watching someone walk out the door looking great, feeling great and full of confidence!
She prides herself on offering a personal, one-to-one service to each and every client, and her team of therapists all share the same vision.
This exquisite level of customer service and genuine care is something that Hartley's has always been renowned for and what is required now is a modern, eye-catching logo that not only marks our 25th anniversary, but most importantly represents what Hartley's is all about.
What We Sell:
Traditional beauty services such as eyebrows and lashes, electrolysis, facials, make-up, nails, massages, skin treatments, threading, waxing in addition to more complex treatments such as aromatherapy, non-surgical face lifts, reflexology and sports massage.
We also sell a range of exclusive, high-end cosmetic products such as skin cleansing and purifying creams, face masks and make-up. Due to incorporate an online shop soon.
At present, Hartley's client base consists mainly of women aged 40+.
However, we are currently working on a new marketing strategy that is designed to attract a younger audience (18-30), whilst still staying true to our original brand values and not alienating our current clientele.
Ideas For New Logo:
We would like to go for a classy and elegant look with the new logo, but incorporate a modern twist.
First and foremost, it needs to be smart and professional.
We are the leading and longest-established salon in the area and we want to portray an image of superiority and luxury through both the logo and new website.
We would prefer the logo to be subtle and understated rather than bold and in your face.
We'd prefer the design to be simple rather than complex, but it must be rememorable and stick in people's minds too.
The right balance needs to be found in regards to this.
The important thing is that we need to freshen things up, maybe with the careful use of some colour (hence the mention of pastel blue/turquoise) to help capture the attention of a younger market.
Blending With New Website Design:
The site itself will be simplistic and minimalistic, bar an image slider on the homepage.
It will consist of white text on a black background and the homepage will have a modern and simplistic, mobile-responsive block layout similar to this: http://thesalonandspa.net/
Hartley's existing website can be found at: http://hartleybeauty.com/
A screenshot of the new website is attached, but the site is still very much in development mode hence why it looks a bit bare at the moment.
We're going for a retro/vintage wallpaper look for the background as you can see.
