We kicked off this initiative about 5 weeks ago and already there's been so much support and interest... but there's a long way to go.
After the devastation of the bushfires in Australia last year, and the mismanagement of agencies to provide timely and useful information to people in the crisis, I felt inspired to get something going that allows the community to inform each other.
We've had interest from Mozilla Foundation to support this event and feature it in September - http://www.drumbeat.org/
We need a great logo to inspire people to get involved. Please help us :)
Tell us a bit about who you are and the people you reach
We are reaching out to an audience who are both online users, plus people in the community who are not tech savvy. The logo needs to speak to them and not be too Web.20 ish.
They want to see a logo that represents trust, accessibility, friendliness. The communities where the logo will have relevance are country people, as well as some urban people who holiday in fire risk areas. They don't want things fancy, they want things to be reliable and no fuss.
The logo needs to be clear and easy to understand for this audience.
It needs to be iconic so it builds familiarity.
We've created some make-shift logos for the project that are in desperate need of changing.
With the logo design we need some specific outcomes:-
1. Logo featuring Bushfire Connect in it
2. Icon that can work on Twitter and Facebook
3. Color palette, so we can maintain a consistent look and feel wherever we use the logo
The logo should have a connection with fire/flame/nature.
Not too web2.0 but enough to look modern and technology enabled.
It would be good for it to be distinct from the Ushahidi design, but almost look as though it comes from the same "family" of brands.
