Graham Holdings got their new logo design by running a design contest:
Crisp Modern logo for Shave Ice Company

Food & Drink
SoHa Shave Ice brings a taste of Hawaii back to the mainland. We offer over 50 flavors of the lightest fluffiest ice in the states. SoHa Shave Ice was started so that we could have a company that is kid friendly and allows our 3 daughters to have active roles within the company. We sell shaved ice at church events, corporate events, weddings, birthday parties, pool parties and even at youth sporting events. SoHa is also served at the home offices of our luxury homebuilding company 2g Habitats. (www.2gHabitats.com) Our customers span the spectrum from elementary aged children and families to Dallas titans of industry and the elite one-percenters. We have attached a concept that we came up with when we were playing around. We like the crisp, modern, simpleness of it, but we do not feel it does anything to convey the fun islandy flavors of shave ice (or anything about shave ice for that matter.) We would like to incorporate the sea turtles somehow as they are one of our families favorite things about Hawaii other than shave ice. In fact, we donate a portion of our net profits to sea turtle conservancies. Shave Ice is fun, islandy and colorful. That being said, while we want a logo that suggests this, it must still be crisp, clean and modern in style because we pair SoHa so much with our other companies that are truly in the luxury channels in North Texas.
Other color requirements
I'd like to explore the following colors: Light neutrals: Purity, balance and sophistication. Aquas: Empathy, compassion, clarity and precision. Blues: Knowledge, trust, calm and honesty.
It all began with a design brief.

Designers across the globe delivered design magic.
Graham Holdings collaborated with designers to refine their ideas
When design entries come in, you can rate them so designers know what you’re looking for in your logo design.
99designs has great collaboration tools so you can pinpoint and capture your ideas
And then… they selected a winner!
Along the way, they met lots of talented designers…
We think contests are a super fun way to get design.
