Loparka's design was originally a contender in a contest I ran here a couple years ago. I always liked and remembered her design but was talked into awarding the original win to someone else. I regret this for the last few years and finally got in touch with her to make it right, and pay her for her excellent work! It is elegant, well composed, beautiful to look at and just the right touch of classic and modern. Mahalo Nui Loa from Hawaii!

I think my selection of 'character' for the logo comes first, and putting that character in an 'emblem' is secondary.
Demographic is men and women equally, age 30's and 40's, for fun and inviting atmosphere. This is a riverside town in upper midwest with population of 80,000.
Would be best if the word "Tavern" was optional - could be used or left off, e.g. the big sign out front may leave it off, but print advertising may include it.
I am not married to any specific idea or character, but a couple thoughts in my head include 1) Curiously sexy female (waist up?) with a little Quasimoto humpback thing going on, 2) A fun, wise, sturdy matriarch, 3) an animal such as a camel, whale, dinosaur, bear, pig. Any of these characters may or may not want to be holding a beer.
The logo/character alone needs to make the passerby want to come in. Maybe its a beckoning smile. Maybe it's the utter uniqueness of the character matching the name. Maybe its a sense that this venue will provide an experience not to be missed.
