Hi! Thanks for considering this context! A few thoughts:
As for the typography, let's try a thinner, lightly serifed font at first. I know many, many law-related logos use serifed fonts, but I'd like to try and balance the gravitas of a serifed font with the cleanness of a more modern tech design.
Regarding the logo, an overall circular logo with a book in the middle is the idea we have in mind. Here's one suggested starting point: try having the book closed with the cover facing the viewer and rotated about 30 degrees so that it appears to be balancing on its lower right corner. See if you can show the thickness of the book in a way that is similar to this image: https://encrypted-tbn2.gstatic.com/
Maybe have a small bookmark coming out of the top. Overall we would like the logo to be circular in nature with the book in the center, although the circle doesn't necessarily need to be fully enclosed.
We want the emphasis to be more on the typography than the logo, but it would be cool to have a logo that we can trademark separate from the text. Thanks for looking, and we can't wait to see your designs!
