Zeust is the new brand name for outdoor kitchen and patio lighting. The brand will be positioned and marketed to be a leader in its field with quality and innovative lighting products, which focus on being both powerful and bright with slick designs, excellent features and extensive customer benefits. Hence the brand’s positioning statement and tagline – ‘power bright’. The first product the brand will launch with is a Barbecue Grill Light that reflects these sentiments. The name and meaning of the brand has been developed from Zeus, the greek god of sky and thunder and is normally depicted holding a lightning bolt. The look and feel – typography, graphics, icons that depict, it we’ll leave up to you the designer. But in producing something that will be successful we would emphasise that this is setting out to be a global brand and market leader under the domain – zeust.com. And therefore designs that reflect and enhance that statement, value-proposition and credibility will be favored. In other words simplicity is key. But with that a sense of intelligence, innovation, cleverness and quality. And whatever else would describe and reflect those statements associated with a global brand leader. So we see our brand logo as being typography-based, either all caps/caps and lower case/all lower case – you decide, which works best with the font you choose. Either with a clever and simple addition of an icon as an addition to the name. Or a graphic incorporated into the name/typography that conveys the association with Zeus – powerful, bright, lightning bolt, head etc – whatever you feel will work best. But bear in mind that the logo will be printed or embossed on product surfaces (black/grey nylon glass fibre) sometimes at a relatively small size so it will have to be simple and bold if it is to be legible and understood in this context. Also that the proportions of the overall design, including any additional graphics/icons will likely work best at 2:1 or 2.5:1 landscape. IMPORTANT: what we don’t want to see is elaborate illustrations or depictions of Zeus that overpower the brand name. Good luck with it and we look forward to seeing what you can produce.
