Who are you known as?
NSSR Neuromotor Speech and Swallowing Restoration Laboratory
What’s your company slogan?
Tell us a bit about who you are and the people you reach
We are a university research laboratory that studies oral motor (speech and swallowing) dysfunction in neurodegenerative disease populations (we focus on ALS / Lou Gehrigs disease). We have a basic science lab and a human clinical lab and try to restore function to those with speech and swallowing impairments. Our old website is http://www.plowmanlab.org (outdated and only includes basic science lab info). Logo would be for new website and change of name.

Ideally I would like lab acronym 'NSSR' featured largely in the logo with it spelt out underneath in smaller text (Neuromotor Speech & Swallowing Restoration laboratory) and an image that is representative of what we study / do. I have two different thoughts for an image to be incorporated / integral for the logo:
1. A Neuron or synapse or Neuromuscular Junction
2. Midsagital cut / image of the head and upper airway that includes the brain, face, trachea (airway) and pharynx (throat) or some sort of muscular representation of this body region.
I have uploaded a different examples of the midsagital head/neck idea, it would be important that the airway and throat/pharynx are included as this is essential for speech and swallowing and what we study. I included an actual x-ray exam of someone swallowing liquid (there is a calibration ring on the neck). This is my current preference as long as it doesn't look too complicated. The first neuron/synapse suggestion could be simple and effective too and part of the synapse could wrap abound the acronym which stylistically could look great. I have included a bunch of neurons /synapse stuff for ideas. Although most of these have a dark/black background this is not necessarily my preference but what i found on the net.
