I would love it if you could create both a logo that can stand on its own without the name of the firm, and also the same logo with the full name of the firm "Talanton Capital Management, LLC" next to it (either underneath, or to the right of the logo). Feel free to break the name of the firm up into two lines of text, and also feel free to de-emphasize the "LLC" part by making the LLC smaller if you think it looks better.
The word "Talanton" is an ancient Greek word used in the New Testament of the bible that actually translates to "talent", which was originally a large unit of weight commonly used for money. We chose to name our firm There is a famous parable/story in in the bible called the "Parable of the Talents" which refers to a master giving each of his servants a different number of talents (different sums of money), and rewarding each of them equally for stewarding his resources well (regardless of the actual amount earned), but punishing the one who took the resources he was given and burying it in the ground (essentially not making use of the resources at all). I was inspired by this parable because it highlights the importance of good stewardship of the resources that are placed under your care, regardless of how little or how much, and that we will ultimately be held accountable for our good-intentioned efforts (or lack thereof).
Another reason why I chose to name the firm Talanton Capital Management, LLC is that "talanton" was specifically a weight of money. The style of investing I employ is known as "value investing", made popular by Warren Buffett, and value investing is all about carefully assessing the value of companies, and only purchasing them when you can buy them at a discount to their carefully estimated true worth.
I am very open to what designs people can come up with that can express good stewardship, a calm and steady approach, and long-term growth or the fruits of long-term growth. I am at a loss for how to express these ideas in a logo. Some vague imagery I thought of included some form of plants or leaves or vines or fruit trees or agriculture (with the idea that this would help express stewardship, fruits of investment, care). I also thought about incorporating a weighing scale (talanton also means scale, and it would also help convey the idea of weighing the value of companies), but I'm not sure if its worth incorporating because scales already have some symbolism with regards to law and might be confusing, and i think it doesn't convey the personal care I want to offer my investors. That being said, I'm open to completely different approaches as well, because I am unfortunately not a gifted creative person like you all are!
