We’re in need of a logo for our company, the Personal Security Institute. We teach people how to protect themselves from a variety of threats to their well being, from criminal activity to natural disasters. While self defense, including defensive use of firearms, is a large part of what we do it’s not the only part. Our market is those people who want to feel and be safer in their daily lives, but don’t know where to go or what to do. Our job is to teach them those things! Most logos for companies like ours feature firearms, weapons, law enforcement or “warrior” themes; that’s not what we’re looking for! We have a higher percentage of female customers than most in this business, and we want a logo that doesn’t offend or scare them - yet at the same time is attractive and interesting to the men who still make up the majority of our clients. We're trying to bring a fresh, new image to the idea of self-sufficiency, to bring it out of the shadows and show everyone that they, too, can be safe without turning into Rambo or a survivalist nut-case! Here are some of the words that describe us and for which we’d like to be known: safety, security, self defense, learning, accessible, authoritative, reliable, skill building, self reliance training, education, professional, integrity.
