Kindness Cookies was founded by Deb and Joanne, two women who have spent countless hours in the kitchen baking cookies and treats for family and friends. Over the years, both home bakers have become known for making a certain type of cookie that has become their trademark. Finding a bag of Deb’s delicious Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies on the doorstep or enjoying Joanne’s Sugar Cookies have been both a surprise and delight for hundreds.
The two women were united by the tragedy of loss from which they forged a friendship that would support each other over time. From their pain, came a shared love for giving as a form of appreciation for life, for love and for friendship.
On a cold winter day, as Deb and Joanne pondered who next should receive a bag of “cookie therapy”, the women realized that they were on to something. Baking cookies, giving cookies and eating cookies had come to represent so much more than just the acts itself. It is about making time: who are these cookies for? It is about kindness: who doesn’t love to receive an unexpected sweet treat? It is about sharing joy: the small act of giving away a cookie brings much joy to the receiver, but also to the giver.
Inspired to share their love of baking and giving with others, Kindness Cookies was established. Customers who purchase cookies for their pleasure and purpose will also receive a special cookie, baked with love and packaged to be given away. Cookie lovers are encouraged to think of someone special, someone in need of a smile, or someone random to gift this special cookie to. This small act of kindness can make a big difference.
Prior to exploring baking as a business, Deb and Joanne worked in special education. It’s only natural that they are bringing together their passion for children and their love of baking. Proceeds from Kindness Cookies will support children’s breakfast programs in their community.
Making the world a kinder and sweeter place, one cookie at a time.
