Create a logo for CESR, a cybercrime computer security research group

We are an academic computer security research group based from several universities (UC Berkeley, UC San Diego, ICSI, and George Mason). Our research focuses on cybercrime (malware, fraud, scams, etc) from an empirical measurement perspective. We are made up of professors, students (undergraduate through PhDs) and staff. Our website is here: http://evidencebasedsecurity.org/ Our target is not marketing to customers, but rather brand identification amongst colleagues and also something for our own identity (think team building).

Even though our name is CESR (pronounced caesar), we don't want roman/caesar themed logos. We are fine with security imagery (think locks, etc) but it should not be comical. We don't want to confine your thinking to such ideas, so please feel free to explore other ideas. If designs include a globe with a map of the US on it, something to denote Berkeley CA, San Diego CA, and Fairfax, VA would be appropriate (think star on a map). Again, DESIGNS DO NOT NEED TO INCLUDE A GLOBE. This is simply a comment if you go in such a direction. Other notes: - Measurement/observation is a big point in what we do - traditional symbols for finding truth include light, lenses, etc - Impartiality and rigor - not busy, continuous lines better than right angles
