Our biggest competitors are Mother Earth Brewing Company and Duck Rabbit. Also, we need to stay away from the logo for White Street Brewing Co.
No hops or barrels or beer steins -- too many other breweries use them and we need to stand out from the crowd.
Try to keep the number of colors limited so the design can be used on a variety of merchandise if needed.
We don't want anything too intricate with lots of curly-cues and flourishes.
Would like to incorporate a mascot or icon. We have thoughts around pigs, fish, pine trees, the river, pirates. Since the local college has a pirate for a mascot, it can get cliche. To avoid this it might be better to think of things related to a pirate but not too "on the nose." A local Pirate to here was the famous Blackbeard. Lots of things in town also incorporate skulls too!
Since our sister brewery is The Lazy Hiker, something off that could work too...The Lazy Fisher; The Lazy River, the Lazy Pig, etc
However, we want the logo to look sophisicated...nothing too cartoony!
We are open to using the building in the design of the logo.
Outdoor activities on the "Tar River" in our downtown are popular too...boating, kayaking, hunting, and fishing. However, we are coastal so the land is very flat and marshy.
I have updated the design brief with more inspiration images--but we do not want to copy them!
This brewery has a sister brewery a few hundred miles away called "The Lazy Hiker" which has a very original and memorable design. For this submission, we would like to stay way from overly generic representations of beer: steins, mugs, etc. If hops are represented, it should be unique and/or different from what has already been submitted.
