20160614 Update: You can but don't have to stick to just one colour in the logo. You can use two colours if you like. The logo must look modern. Too many submissions look like IBM in the 90s.
20160614 Update: Logo must look good on white background. Submit your designs on a white background please.
20160614 Update: Still no-one has hit the nail on the head. Contest prize increased by $200. Get cracking!
20160610 Update: A lot of the designers are separating Data and Science. E.g.: SuperData on one line and Science on the next. This is incorrect. DataScience is one word. Either keep all three words on one line or if you need to separate then Super is the word that can be separated. I know it's a tough constraint, but that's why we need the BEST designer. Good luck!
20160609 Update: An icon on the left, text on the right. Look at the following logos for inspiration:
20160609 Update: A lot of you are submitting designs as if Super Data Science were a space agency or a medical research facility. We provide education. Now this doesn't mean that you should go run and put owls and graduation hats on your designs. This just means you need to keep in mind the target audience - professional analysts and data scientists who want to better themselves.
20160608 Update: A lot of the submitted designs contain ONLY text. That's not what we want. We want an abstract image / icon / logo and then text on the right. So that the logo can be used separately without the text and be recongnizeable.
Note: You can experiment with using the full name SuperDataScience or the short version SDS in the logo. Similarly, you can experiment with including the slogan and not including it. Totally up to you - all submissions will be reviewed equally.
