Food & Drink
We make wine. Our vineyard is a family estate situated 100 kilometers east of Bordeaux in France. But we define ourselves as kind of "anti bordeaux-Bordeaux", as both our wines and our approach to winemaking has only little to do with the conservatism often perceived as the bordeaux style. Our vineyard has been in the familys possession since approx. 1890. Today Château Le Raït is run by my father and me and a few employees. In the beginning of the 1980s my father decided to part from the local cooperative and began a pioneering adventure aiming to fullfill the potential of the family-vines through organic winemaking. This was highly controversial in a time when the word organic had yet to be introduced to the world of winemaking. Today Le Raït builds upon this longstanding tradition and savoir-faire of traditional production methods and organic winemaking meaning no chemicals of any kind neither in the fields nor in the cellar. We mostly make red wine as well as a little dry white and sparkling. Our red wine is a blend of predominantly Merlot, a little Cabernet Sauvignon. This reflects clearly in the fruity style of the wine. Our aim for all our wines is to make wine to drink and enjoy - not to collect. The inherent frutiness due to the freshness of the acidity as well as a fairly light tannic structure makes all our wines perfect companions of traditional rural french cuisine.
Logo types to explore
The organic part should not in itself carry the logo but it can appear. Our primary focus however is on quality. But I would also stress the personal, traditionalistic, anti-conservative, craftsmanship part. Also we are not a streamlined wine-factory, but a small family business. The logo will first be used digitally on websites and in mail signatures etc, but it would be a huge advantage to think it in terms of winelabelling as well. In a while we will need to redesign our labels and at that time, this logo should definitely appear as a central part of the labels. Also the logo should be able to be transferred to business card design. The logo should read "Le Raït", e.g not comprising the "Château..." thanks.
