Create an eye-catching scalable logo for Arbology

We are based in England, conducting ecological (wildlife and habitats) and arboricultural (tree) surveys and provide a consultancy service to clients ranging from homeowners to large engineering firms, so the logo needs to be professional. We specialise in bat ecology, including their reliance on trees and habitats. We also specialise in ancient tree management.

I am looking for a logo that is scalable (easily identified through colour palette and simple design regardless of size), or can easily have a variant which works in small form for a favicon, possibly app icons, etc. I would prefer that the company name is not a necessary part of the logo (i.e. the logo is not just type). Some notes on what I don't want: - Trees are very commonly used in this industry and so I would prefer to stay away from using trees directly in the logo, but more abstract ideas are welcome. - I would prefer the letter A not to be a feature of the logo, however as with trees I am open to abstract ideas. - I would prefer the logo not to incorporate a bat directly, but welcome abstract ideas based on the above. - We do not work much with birds, and in England where I am based we do not have exotic birds such as the humming bird and so I would prefer the logo not to incorporate a bird(s).
