Situate Magazine is a content-heavy online periodical that uses place as the point around which each issue revolves. With four release dates per year, each iteration of the magazine will provide an in-depth look at a different city or country. Content types include investigative reporting, interview/profile pieces, essays, memoir, short fiction, oral narratives (as audio content), photo essays, and the occasional poem. There will also be additional material uploaded more frequently in the form of blogs, podcasts, short videos, music playlists, and reader-supplied content (anecdotes, comments, etc.). The first issue will be set in New Orleans.
This is not a travel magazine, but rather an anthology of the voices that comprise and fill out a physical location. We are committed to sourcing the bulk of our content from local contributors, and a minimum from staff.
Our target audience is passionate about learning, decently well-educated (traditionally or independently), forward-thinking, and often unconventional. Situate Magazine intends to further readers' natural curiosity, and stretch their perspectives on what it is to be human.
