secondlinebrewing got their new logo design by running a design contest:
Craft Brewery Seeks Logo Design
Check out secondlinebrewing's Logo design contest…
It is not necessary to incorporate our slogan into the logo, but if it works from a design perspective then that would be great. Our slogan is "Everyone loves a parade".
Food & Drink
Position ourselves as a premium brand in the craft beer market targeting millennials and generation x-ers. Our company derives its name from the unique New Orleans tradition of second line parades. These informal parades arose from the traditional New Orleans jazz funerals in which the funeral procession would be the “first line” behind which spectators along the route would fall in to form the “second line”. With the passage of time, second line parades have become transformed into informal street celebrations, replete with a brass band and an open invitation for onlookers to join in the celebration. The theme of celebration will pervade every aspect of Second Line. For our beer this will mean celebrating the artisanal aspects of craft beer along while exploring new techniques, technologies and ingredients in order to provide the Louisiana craft beer consumer with exciting, inventive and great tasting beers.
Logo types to explore
As the founders of Second Line Brewing, our love for the city of New Orleans runs very deep. New Orleans is a magical place that is the very embodiment of the word "celebrate" and it is also our home. We selected the name "Second Line Brewing" because of the unique New Orleans tradition of second line parades and because of our desire to have our beer associated with the concept of "celebration". We would like our brand to capture the uniqueness of New Orleans as well as the concept of "celebration". With regard to celebration, at Second Line Brewing we celebrate because we love life, making beer and the city that means so much to us. One of the characters from New Orleans history that we really like is the Baroness Pontalba. (Please Wiki her so that you can get her backstory.) The Baroness was a business woman and real estate developer. She also overcame great adversity in her life. We would like to develop a character called "The Baroness" to use in our logo and advertising materials. We envision her being attractive, feminine, strong, and striking a pose as shown in the attached files. In her right hand she would be holding a traditional second line parasol (you can Google these for a better idea of what they look like). In the other hand she would have a brewers mash paddle. These mash paddles can be rather ornate and we would like to see if we could incorporate some fleur de lis into the main part of the mash paddle since the fleur is one of the unofficial symbols of New Orleans. My wife, and co-founder, would like The Baroness to be dressed in a modern/'hip" style that conveys strength and femininity. Please remember that we will need to have this logo on beer bottles as well as other advertising materials. So the logo should be fairly compact in dimensions. Lastly, New Orleans is often referred to as NOLA. There is already a brewery in town called NOLA so please do not use this acronym in our design.
