Think Napa Valley wine tasting event in San Francisco. (expect its the Canadian version Prince Edward County wine tasting event in Toronto. It's a high end, but cool/chic wine tasting that people pay $50 to attend and try a bunch of new wines that are unavailable in stores and you can buy them at the event to be shipped directly to your door with no shipping cost. It happens in an old abandon Church in the City called the Berkeley Church which is now used as an event venue. Its people with money no doubt and wine is definitely a higher priced item but its still a fun and youthful event where there is live music and great food in a relaxed non stuffy atmosphere. Unlike the Napa Valley, the county (as its affectionately called) is pretty new (fastest growing wine region the world has ever seen) but is compared to Burgundy in France. Wine makers will be in attendance and most are farmers too. Its a really cool unique area and is a really cool event.

The direction vision is a weather vane. Simple and recognizable and we can play on the whole arrow thing showing direction from "COUNTY in the CITY".
I think Rooster is the most recognizable weather vane but not opposed to something else like a tractor or an old fashion harrow for instance. But its gotta feel country. (which is where the wineries in the county are :0) )
The rooster could be sort of a city rooster? It should look like a cross between country and city. Farm and Street. Maybe the rooster has the lights of a building in it? Maybe it looks like buildings? Maybe the city scape is in behind the rooster? Maybe its a robot? maybe he/she is a sophisticated rooster (wearing clothes, drinking wine) Maybe its just more of a symmetrical drawing or something that was forged or done on draft table. But its still has to be clean and a logo to be able to be in one colour.
There was some discussion about having the NSWE be icons representing wine but… Look at the letters...WNE! Three of the letters are there! So it might be change the NSWE to WINE or maybe we have 5 directions and we squeeze in an I?
I think thats it for now. The attached pics are just points of reference to get your visual juices going. I know you folks will come up with some great ideas!! Love 99designs!
