Katherine & Chandra got their new logo design by running a design contest:
We need a clean, powerful logo for a new journalism center supporting BIPOC freelancers

The Center for Independent Journalists is an education, professional development, support, and advocacy organization for independent journalists, focusing on Black, Indigenous and People of Color. We provide educational programs and content to freelance journalists, primarily in the U.S.
UPDATE: We would love to see other visual design ideas that aren't a fist or microphone ... maybe I shouldn't have been so specific. Abstract is good! ORIGINAL BRIEF: The concepts we'd like to convey include: support, diversity, collaboration, being stronger together, creativity, writing, power. Some ideas: maybe incorporate a pen in the design, since many of us are writers? Or use the initials CIJ? Maybe incorporate a circle to signify unity or collaboration - or a fist / hand to symbolize power - or a microphone since we interview folks? Nothing too literal / no mascot / no pictorial. I would love to see a variety of choices and colors. We're launching this with Northwestern University, whose colors are purple and white, so it would be cool to incorporate lavender or purple if possible.
Every design category has flexible pricing for all budgets. Logo design starts at $299.
