Need a killer logo for a new "info-musement" blog called BrainPlant. We're only about a month in, but we hope to make the blog clever, amusing and fun. Design is predominantly basic b&w.
What inspires you and how do you envision the design for your business?
BrainPlant is a site for SAT (smartass-tolerant) people. It's meant to amuse its writers (maybe visitors, too) and not much more. The design is about as simple as simple gets. We need a good logo that is immediately identifiable and instantly readable. Nothing too fancy, but maybe with a splash of color (probably red) for an otherwise dominantly b&w display.
There are a number of "plays" on the logo and we're open. The words "brain" and "plant" offer obvious potential, but so does the reputed site boss Tony Gambozo, and his possible underworld connections. But again, keep it subtle.
- 1. Please visit http://www.brainplant.com to get a feel of what we’re trying to do. Goal of site is to be clever, amusing and fun. We know you can go in a number of different directions with the words and concept. So, have fun, but stay pro.2. Logo must be totally readable at first glance and immediately identifiable. 3. We’re open, but think “BrainPlant” letters should be black and/or gray. Separating “Brain” and “Plant” words by using black for one and gray for the other is favored. Similar techniques are OK. Other colors? Maybe.4. A symbol, icon or avatar to represent BrainPlant is needed, but nothing cliché’ or too obvious. Have fun and be creative, but don’t get carried away. Red is the preferred accent color.5. Please do not “overwork” the design. Keep it clean, simple, contemporary and professional. With all due respect, many of the designs we see are creative, but way too busy, or seem to be “trying too hard.”6. The icon and logo need to be efficient and predominantly horizontal (meaning don’t take up a lot of vertical space).7. Thanks! Have fun!
