Frank Pinedale needed a new logo design and created a contest on 99designs.
A winner was selected from 272 designs submitted by 67 freelance designers.
Kakosi
Kakosi is about two brothers who left the corporate grind and went into the coastal highlands of Venezuela to source the most prized cacao strains (cocoa) in the world. They found it, made some great friends along the way, and launched one of the most ambitious organic farming processes across Venezuela with their new friends and partners; the cooperative of organic farmers they work with. Everything is done by hand, the cacao harvesting, selection, the fermenting, and the chocolate making; which is the way it has been done for hundreds of years.

Objective: Develop a Logo for Kakosi, that Kakosi can carry across its different product lines. The logo should touch on the Kakosi themes that are indicated above.
Format: Vector format, preferably Adobe Illustrator.
Elements of Logo: Ideally, the logo would be based around one or two cacao farmers working the farm with a machete in hand and a basket of cacao pods on their shoulder, or a sack cacao slung over their backs. They should be in motion, walking, their bodies forming a vague "k" form. The logo should be thematic and in line with a typographic art deco, vintage, form, similar to the picture supplied below of the three men trekking. This image should be the base starting point. Other vintage posters have added as an inspiration board.
The logo should embody the idea of hard manual work, organic, fresh, rustic, old-world, creole.
