Definition of “Outfitter” from Merriam-Webster
A business providing equipment, supplies, and often trained guides (as for hunting trips); also: a guide working for such an outfitter.
Outfitter Energy is a Houston-based oil and gas private equity business that makes investments in the upstream (exploration and production companies that look for oil and gas), oilfield services (companies that provide services and equipment to the upstream companies to find oil and gas), and midstream (companies that move or transport oil and gas from one location to another) subsectors of the energy industry. Outfitter Energy raises money in limited partnerships from large institutions, invests that money on their behalf in private companies, and manages those investments via representation at the board level of each company.
Rationale for the name Outfitter
From an investor’s perspective, the name is fitting because the investor is trusting our expertise to help guide his investment in energy. From the perspective of the management teams / companies in which we invest, we are providing capital (i.e., equipment or supplies) and expertise (i.e., board level guidance) to help profitably grow their companies.
Outfitter Energy will be the primary “brand”. There will be a number of subsidiaries/related entities that will utilize the logo, such as Outfitter Energy Capital, Outfitter Energy Management, and Outfitter Energy Partners. It is our preference to have the words “Outfitter Energy” in the logo. We prefer a logo that can be used in both color and black & white.
