It was great to have submissions of ideas from several designers. This gave the process a flexibility that isn't possible when you commission a single designer to create for you.
I make accessories and clothing out of Japanese kimono fabric, primarily silk, but also cotton, wool, synthetics and heavy obi fabric. All of my items are one of a kind, original designs accomodating the 14" width of kimono fabric. Most are embellished with beads.
My target audience: Women 33 to 60, disposable income, fashion concious but not trendy, values hand work, prefers the unique to the mass produced. Or anyone buying a gift for this woman.
