robertdambra got their new logo & business card by running a design contest:
Logo that appeals to parents and high school students that conveys zen but also technology

The name of the company is Grove Test Prep. "Test Prep" isn't a slogan, but I'm torn about whether or not it should be in the logo. If you think it could look good in there, go ahead.
It's an SAT and ACT prep company. We have advanced software and private tutors. The target audience is parents in wealthy neighborhoods and their high school kids.
I'm trying to convey both a sense of zen (being in a grove) and of high tech. Our tutors provide the human touch in a nurturing, relaxing environment, and we also have advanced software. I will probably use a lot of tree/grove/seedling metaphors in the branding. This may apply more to general branding than to the logo specifically, but I envision "high-tech trees." Maybe their root system electrified or something like that. I'd like to see an image in the logo design, not just the company name. Maybe a tree with a brain or something more abstract. Update at 6:45pm Eastern: just added grey to my colors. I like it potentially as a background color or just infused into the green of the tree (grey matter). Some random ideas: root system of tree looks like brain network. Perhaps the word Grove is built into the root network. I'd use that more as food for thought. It's probably too complicated for a logo. Other ideas: Something simple and abstract. Three geometric trees (more of a grove than one tree). Maybe they have shadows. Maybe they share a root system/shadow that is shaped like a brain. It might be cool if the roots really looked like synapses. Just some thoughts... See my third image attachments for a couple of horrible drawings. You could also go really abstract and just have a few pillars (maybe shadows?) that would represent the trunks of trees (fourth image attachment). Gives the feel of being in the grove instead of looking at it from afar. Maybe the crown of the tree is implied somehow or just left out since you're "in" the grove. Update 12 hours left in comp: I have a couple of spots left for finalists. I'm open to more abstract designs or really "out there" ideas. I feel like there are a bunch of solid things that are in the theme that I requested, but I'd like to see things that I haven't thought of.
