Imprima Productions is a boutique film production company lauded for its cogent synthesis of complex ideas and masterful consideration of emotionally charged subject matter. Our mission is to tell prescient, compelling, wholistic stories with broad appeal about overlooked and marginalized subjects. Stories about women, people of color, the queer identified. Stories that reflect both the sometimes hard realities of lives that deviate from normative expectations and the humor and compassion that emerges from one learning to relate to an other. We believe that truth is inherently beholden to perspective, and that examining conflicting convictions adds depth to perception. It’s a tricky game— playing with absolutism through a relativist lens. It’s making movies and shows that unfold layer after layer, such that you'll want to watch them again and again. Keywords: unflinching, cerebral, tempered. provocative, surreal. urbane, witty, clever. incisive, precise. Audiences: English speaking, generally 16+, all genders, races and ethnicities, but skew female, millennial/ gen x. People who want to be more socially conscious and people who are already socially conscious who want something they can share. People who see feelings as a valid type of information. People who want to be in touch with the world but don't think they know much about it. People who talk politics over cocktails. People who need something to say to the in-laws. People who throw a movie on Netflix while they cook.
Needs: The mark and the words need to be able to be used separately or together. The design needs to be something that lends itself well to animation for a vanity card (the moving logo at the beginning of tv shows and films). We are more concerned with interplay and the aesthetics of the whole than e.g. whether the font is serifed. Design: A good, simple mantra is “it’s always both.” Organic and geometric. Words and images. Representative and abstract. Objective and subjective. Here are some ideas to get you started: We’re attracted to ink blots and the blend of organic and geometric forms like this M: https://www.pinterest.com/pin/73113193929850729/ Also to two dimensional representations of three dimensional ideas. Or three dimensional representations of four dimensional ideas. Impossible geometry might be fun: https://www.pinterest.com/pin/18577417192771615/ Clever use of negative space is appreciated. “Imprima” comes from latin meaning to press or print —we imprint an impressive impression with imprimatur, you might say, all the same root. Might be something there. The branding doesn’t need to incorporate film per se, but we think a lot of these are clever and like the incorporation of both representative and abstract components: http://designbeep.com/2012/09/04/45-clever-logos-with-creative-use-of-film-strip-and-film-reel/ Other imagery related to film also welcome — clapboards, etc. …or who knows, perhaps something dealing with special relativity and the double-cone theory of movement in spacetime, experienceable realities being beholden to the speed of light— or light as passing through celluloid.
