ozzieagooex got their new logo & brand guide by running a design contest:
Technical & aspirational logo for research nonprofit

UPDATE: We'd prefer not having a fox or a Q to be our logo, those are too generic. See our attached design document for inspiration. QURI (The Quantified Uncertainty Research Institute) is a research organization that makes scientific/probability/forecasting software to help save the world by understanding global risks and their mitigation strategies. Our work is used by academically-minded researchers and funders who are focused on reducing risks of bio, nuclear, AI, and not yet foreseen issues. QURI is a public charity. The brand target is focused on possible hires. Hiring is our main bottleneck. We're aiming to hire very smart and idealistic nerds (think Silicon Valley and MIT), probably between the ages of 22 and 45, mean age of around 26. We want a brand that speaks to them. I see our brand as nerdy, idealistic, and humble. In our branding doc, I take inspiration from old-school engineering aesthetics, standards bodies and bureaucracies, science fiction nerdy utopias (think the Vulcans in Star Trek), Swedish & European Design, and idealistic government initiatives. Our current (barebones) website is here. It shows a fox, because foxes are associated with forecasting. (Some of our work is forecasting oriented) https://quantifieduncertainty.org/ We're most known for Guesstimate (which will be merged into the QURI). https://www.getguesstimate.com/ In terms of logo images, I'm fairly unsure what would be best. Things that deal with probabilities / distributions / uncertainty are obvious, but there aren't many of them. See this document for information about what I'd like the brand to represent: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1KgDbiO2pmNpKVI8-lCp3ohpB53L62y9b5SJ5C88ruRI/edit?usp=sharing
Other color requirements
If you go monotone, I'd probably lean against it being pink, red, or gray.
It all began with a design brief.
A quick, interactive guide helped them understand their design style and captured exactly what they needed in their logo & brand guide.
Designers across the globe delivered design magic.
ozzieagooex collaborated with designers to refine their ideas
When design entries come in, you can rate them so designers know what you’re looking for in your logo design.
99designs has great collaboration tools so you can pinpoint and capture your ideas
And then… they selected a winner!
Along the way, they met lots of talented designers…
We think contests are a super fun way to get design.
