uhon got their new logo & brand guide by running a design contest:
Jointwall - Share your Walls with friends
Check out uhon's Logo & brand guide contest…
Jointwall is a progressive web app (optimized for use on mobile devices) to share photos with your friends via Walls (photo collections). Jointwall users can create Walls and invite friends as members to their Walls. Wall-members can upload their pictures (or directly take a photo with their device camera). Uploaded pictures appear instantly on the Wall and Wall-members get notified via Push-Notification. The author of a Wall manages members access while Wall-members can copy, move or delete their own pictures. The Apps usage is free, but only allows to upload a certain amount of photos if not buying additional storage . It targets people which want to organize their memories and share it with others in an intuitive way. Since the service is monetized, the main target group exclude Kids and Juveniles. Everyone else from Young Adults to Elderly people should feel welcome on the Platform and build trust towards it.
Please check out a sample Wall in prototype: https://jointwall.com/w/c1f9c039-3e3a-4eeb-a893-474606b93962 =Style and Values= The App Design is held in dark. Users pictures should be the focus of the application, while the UI-Schaffold integrates nicely and unobtrusively. The Logo though should be an Eye-catcher and give an impression of what to expect from the App. For technical requirements please check out my points at the end of this description. The logo and style should represent: A trusted and secure service where your share your most precious memories with your friends Instantaneity: no installation, quick upload and distribution of your pictures An app which doesn’t make compromises on image quality. You share original images. Modernity. It shall underline the state-of-the-art technology. the fluidity of the App (which uses transparent overlays, animations and lazy loading) =Where will the Logo appear?= Logo will be displayed in the Apps Header, as Fullscreen Loading-Icon, as Push-Notification Icon, as App Icon (when the App is installed on a Phones Home-Screen) and (maybe) as Favicon. To show the behaviour of the the logo, please check out the existing prototype of the App (link at beginning of this description). The Prototype illustrates where the logo appears and how it behaves according to the Browser width. On very narrow screens (small width like on a phone held in portrait orientation), the logo is quadratic and does not contain the brand Name. On larger screens, the logo appears in a wide mode and can be as wide as necessary to include the brand name. When opening the sidebar, the logo is always presented in wide mode. =Requirements:= The logo... must Look great when quadratic and may contain the letters J,W or both if appropriate with your design, but doesn’t have to include any letters if it looks better. must be available in a wide version, which includes the Name Jointwall (with a Capital J) The Logo should look nice on a dark background Logo must have a good contrast to the App-Bar color of the the prototype. The Blue color is not set in stone and might be adapted to fit the Logo nicely. If you’ve suggestion for another color, bear in mind that the App-Bar is semi transparent and underlying pictures shine through. So the App-Bar should be in a color, which looks good with an average photo. The Typeface of the prototype (currently Balsamic) is not fixed and will be adapted to look great in combination with the logo. Harmonize with other Icons in the prototype (Material UI Design icons)
