SILTHW got their new logo & brand guide by running a design contest:
Design for a blog and podcast about life lessons learned the hard way

Entertainment & The Arts
This is a logo for a video podcast covering lessons learned through failure or challenges. Examples will come from business, technology (IT), consulting, relationships and human behavior. I have worked internationally, and I will have people from all parts of the world involved. Some of the committed guests are in Europe, and I expect a few from Asia to lock soon. I expect this will appeal to a techie, IT audience. I don't want to limit to that, but the initial slate of guests come from that area. This should appeal to an audience that wants to learn lessons immediately applicable to their work life (primary) or personal relationships (secondary). This is succinct practical advice wrapped in a funny anecdote.
Other color requirements
I'm really open to whatever use of color best conveys the concept.
Ideally I'm looking for the logo, banners for LinkedIn, YouTube and Twitter, and an avatar pic. But let's start with logo. Guests that have signed up include CEOs, CIOs, management consultants, a few entertainment personalities, and a few people who are well known in their industries. The tone is a comedic take on a serious topic, with real life-lessons being taught. Think "here is what I learned that time I accidentally shut down the London Stock Exchange", or "here is what I learned from a CEO telling me my presentation sucked"
Every design category has flexible pricing for all budgets. Logo & brand guide starts at $429.
