JohnF got their new landing page design by running a design contest:
Ongoing design work - responsive design that is fun and functional

we create fun education games for young school students...
Use the style our homepage uses. The page you are making is for the student admin, where a login is required. You can use username: geo6844 password: line The student admin is an old layout and the goal of this comp is to find someone to redesign it better
Elements to include in the landing page
I have attached an image of the current game page used by students in their admin "student-admin.png" At the top of the bar I have the students name, next to this is a magnifying glass. this just needs to be an icon that tell the user they can click it for more info about their account next is the points, I think we need better icons. The top number can be smaller as its less important, this is the users total points. The other number is how much spend they have to use in reward shops and can be bigger. then we have 3 icons, mute, home link, and menu link that pops out a menu The center section is the actual game, question text at the top left, image on the right then possible answers at the bottom. On the far right is a special button that when clicked pops out info telling the student their next game to play etc. When the student is playing this icon will be small, but at the end of the game it will become a larger button. So students now that this icon/button etc can be clicked on any page to show what the next place is they can go to (game, reward, results etc) The footer is the game controls, starting from left it has question numbers, progress bar and correct and wrong count then a next button to go to next question The last 2 images are what one of our designers came up with. They are good but she left off a few things and I think they can be improved a little * missing the breadcrumb trail at top left * logo is too big * log out link is missing * mute icon is missing Other than that their design is probably ok for us to use, just seeing if we can get some better suggestions. In the final round if you make it, we will get you to take your best design and show how it would appear on all devices, ie smaller screens. Also look at our site to see the types of bright colors we like and the features we need to provide to users etc.
We need a talented designer that can create web interfaces that work on all devices and are children friendly Our site is http://www.studyladder.com We are slowly moving the site to work better on all devices by using responsive designs and the bootstrap framework. We have interface type design work that comes up regularly and we need a good interface designer to help us. Some basic web skills like HTML are a bonus, but mainly you must have a good understanding of how important the interface is for usability as well as look. We have a lot of ongoing work, this will not be a one off job for the right person.
