How Machwave started their landing page design journey
Who are you known as?
Kangaroo! The Aussie Guide
Tell us a bit about who you are and the people you reach
Kangaroo! The Aussie Guide is a free, concise resource of the most popular websites and the most useful information about Australia. We have traditionally catered mainly for those living in Australia already, but our focus is moving towards those who are planning to visit Australia. Our category list, and the links within each category, is highly curated and is currently expanding to make it more useful for more people. Put simply, we aim to be a treasure chest of must-have information about Australia.
What industry do you think your business is most related to?
What do you have in mind for the style and theme of the landing page?
The page should be colourful, fun, concise, clean, elegant and professional looking. It should not be too cluttered. It needs to be artistic. I will need to be able to code it into a responsive page that looks good on any screen. I will most likely be using the Bootstrap framework to do that. I'm looking for some original thinking about how to display a directory resource. New thinking. Think outside the square please if you want to catch my attention. But the page needs to be instantly understandable for visitors: essential Australian information, services, resources, etc, particularly for visitors to our country.
Elements to include in the landing page
Category areas that contain links to resources within that category. These can be expandable lists (like they currently are), non-expandable (links always visible), or a mixture of both. This is the main thing for the website: it needs the most prominence. And it needs to be simply understood. I'd like an email capture form and the standard social sharing buttons as well, but those things are minor and should not take up much space. The category listings and how they are presented are the main thing I'm looking for.
The design needs to include the kangaroo logo which can be copied from the current website. If a different format or size is needed, let me know. I plan to change the red rectangular box that contains The Aussie Guide such that it has rounded ends (semi-circular) and such that is has a white border that is visible when the logo is on a dark background. So I would prefer if that change could be made for your entries.
