Man Mug got their new landing page design by running a design contest:
Create a Landing Page for The Man Mug "Father's Day Giveaway" Photo Contest
Check out Man Mug's Landing page design contest…
Food & Drink
The website is dedicated to selling Man Mugs. The Man Mug is a stainless steel double walled beer mug. My target audience are male beer lovers with a sense of humor. At the moment, my other marketing efforts are targeting homebrewers.
The look and feel needs to be masculine. I could go with a warm color palette to associate beer, or spring / summer colors. It's for Father's Day, so a plaid might work as well. I'd rather see a light color theme instead of a dark one. I love both photography and vector art images. I'm a fan of well done graphics (sorry, I know that doesn't help). I love when multiple design elements are composited well.
Elements to include in the landing page
The Man Mug Father's Day Giveaway! The landing page is for a photo contest that I'm holding called "The Man Mug Father's Day Giveaway". I'm soliciting people to enter their best pictures of "The Man Mug" (they obviously need to own one first). I'm trying to get as many pictures of The Man Mug as I can before Father's Day. The top four images will receive 2 free Man Mugs each. In theory, these Man Mugs would be given to two men in your life (ie.2 Grandfathers, Father & Grandfather, etc) The landing page needs to give the details about the contest as well as encourage people to enter, because the Man Mug is a perfect Father's Day gift! I would like a large banner at the top of the page, with the words "The Man Mug Father's Day Giveaway". Above the fold needs to let the user know it's a photo contest and the winner wins free Man Mugs. I'm envisioning the banner to be "manly" in nature. A call to action of "Sign Up Now" needs to be above the sign up box. The sign up box needs to have these elements: 1. name 2. email address 3. "choose file" box with upload button. (Used to upload their image) 4. Small scroll box for "Terms & Conditions" with a check box that the user must check in order to accept the Terms & Conditions. 5. A check box for the user to sign up for my monthly newsletter. This will be checked by default. It should also list the details of the contest, which are here: - Contest ends on midnight June 6th. - Winners will be announced June 7th and will be contacted by the email provided at time of submission. - Winning Man Mugs will be mailed out prior to Father's Day to give applicants enough time to wrap and prepare as gifts. - Images will be judged on originality, creativeness, use of the product and/or box and overall "Fun" of the image. - Multiple submissions are allowed and encouraged. - Nudity is appreciated, but will be disqualified for the contest. - No Profanity - The use of Photoshop or any other manipulation software is allowed. I'd like an Amazon Buy Now button somewhere on the page, as well as a button that takes you to my home page, manmug.com. I'd like social buttons at the bottom of the page. (Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, Instagram, Pinterest)
Obviously the landing page needs to be "Manly". In my head I'm seeing the use of plaid somewhere like a lumberjack, but not necessary. And please don't try to force it because I mentioned it. If it doesn't fit your design, don't do it. I'm a photographer, so if you need a certain image of the product, I can easily provide it for you, just ask. Because I'm a photographer, I enjoy rich images and textures, but I also love the vector based art like badges and elements. I'm marketing the Man Mug toward homebrewers and male beer lovers with a sense of humor. I did the video production for the commercial on the website, so if you need any of those elements, I can easily get those to you. It's a photo contest, so the use of cameras in the design would be appropriate.
