mikeMQ8 got their new landing page design by running a design contest:
New cloud storage start-up about to launch - we need a website!
Check out mikeMQ8's Landing page design contest…
We sell object storage (S3) directly to customers and to system integrators who then resell it. We want to be the wasabi.com for Europe.
As we're selling object storage (s3) out of data centers, the temptation is to go with a kind of black or navy blue colors, data center images, corporate fonts, fibre-optic swooshes. I would like to NOT do that. It has to be professional because the primary audience for this site is system integrators (first it'll be the CFO, then it'll be developers, so speed of getting going for them, no BS is key - check out fly.io), but the main points are: simplicity, ease of use, and clarity. We are trying to position ourselves as the opposite of Amazon Web Services- if you look at their site, they seem to take pride in how complicated it is, how un-designed it is. Is there a way of building a cloud storage landing page that is clear and easy to understand, that signals that "we've got this" and "we make cloud storage simple" without resorting to the reassuring navy blue on white, straight lines and sharp angles, corporate, male, palette? I would also like to avoid using any of the free illustration services, so nothing from Humaaans, open-peeps, open-doodles, undraw or anything like it. I'd like to avoid following the usual trends.
Elements to include in the landing page
A "register your interest" email capture is the main CTA, we will switch it for a "Let's go" type button once we launch.
The font stack we base all our sites on is: `-apple-system, BlinkMacSystemFont, "Segoe UI", Roboto, Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif, "Apple Color Emoji", "Segoe UI Emoji", "Segoe UI Symbol"` We're happy to use other fonts, but we want to avoid using hosted font services like Google Fonts or Typekit. The wireframes I've shared are not required content, just ideas. Good luck and thank you in advance for participating. We're really excited to see what you come up with.
