Story to tell in the infographic
It must demonstrate how the technology is overlapping in two clinical areas, these are wound healing and microbial disinfection. The device is comprised of high technology light emitting diodes (LEDs) tuned to specific light wavelengths known to be therapeutic and germicidal. As such it is a photodisinfection and phototherapy device. The treatment is synergistic, for example during wound repair the tissue becomes infiltrated with macrophages which are part of the host defense response, and these cells kill pathogens.
The device does both of these things on it’s own, however it can also be paired with pharmaceuticals to enhance germicidal effectiveness. These pharmaceuticals can be photosensitizers which are molecules that kill pathogens when exposed to light or/and antibiotics which kill bacteria directly.
In addition to the above two statements, the other thing the device can do is reduce virulence of the pathogen. This also makes the pathogens more susceptible to killing by the host defense.
