(see attached doc) Construction • One World Trade is comprised of 400,000 lbs of steel per floor – ten times the average skyscraper. • Its perimeter is made up of 24 jumbo steel columns which are: 18 metres long, 64 metric tons each. • Costing around $4bn to build it is the most expensive office tower in the world. • This makes it almost three times as expensive as the original World Trade Centre towers. • It is also the tallest building in the United States , and the 4th tallest building in the world. • World Trade One tops out at 1,776 ft., including a 408 ft. steel spire • The building’s outer steel moment frame is paired with a concrete-core shear wall, giving a strong structure and 3m square feet of column-free office space. • The large, high ceilings are a staple feature – they are at least 9 ft. in usable height, with a height of 13 ft. 4 in. from ‘floor slab to slab’. • The building, in total, comprises of approx. 48,000 tons of structural steel, 200,000 cubic yards of concrete and 1m squared feet of exterior glass. Safety • A range of safety features intended to improve evacuation and emergency response procedures include : • Extra-wide pressurised stairs, multiple backup power sources for emergency lighting, concrete-protected sprinklers, dedicated stairwell for emergency services. • Structurally, it also features a steel core protected with concrete and fireproof cladding; compared with the original towers, whose core was protected by drywall and spray on fireproofing. Green & Renewable • The building boasts a Gold LEED status – just one below the illustrious Platinum • 90% of occupied spaces use natural light, and 100% of stormwater collected is recycled • During construction, 80% of waste materials were recycled • 75% of the materials used are post-industrial recycled content
