Comaxx got their new infographic by running a design contest:
Create an infographic for research study on entrepreneurship
Check out Comaxx's Infographic contest…
Story to tell in the infographic
An academic research was performed on the topic of successful serial entrepreneurship. Nyenrode needs an infographic to present the research results to the participating entrepreneurs and a large group of other business enthusiasts. It will be placed in a PDF brochure, where two A4 pages are reserved for the infographic. The brochure will be promoted online and trough mail. Possible in printed form.
Data to include in the infographic
The infographic needs to build up from 5 mayor sections. See attached two pages for our ideas of the structure of the data. The summary is as follows: 1. First the presentation of the entrepreneurial persona’s: the novice and habitual entrepreneur. The habitual entrepreneur can be further divided into serial and portfolio entrepreneur. For every persona a small textual description should be presented (a definition and how they spent their time), and several facts (average age, average annual turnover, etc.) can be used for visually appealing elements. There is no guideline how to visually design these facts. 2. Second is a section were some highlights of where and how the research population was drawn. Our suggestion is to present a small map of the Netherlands with all kinds of markers in it (to suggest to research population covers the whole Netherlands). If a map is chosen, it may be in every form, and the markers may be placed random. 3. Third notable results are presented. Top and button three items were entrepreneurs spent time on. Top and button three items were entrepreneurs are happy with. 4. Fourth the skill level, relevance and how much time is spend on each skill is compared for the novice and habitual entrepreneur. A textual definition for each of the three skill levels is given. Again, the cartoons are for informational purposes only, and should not be copied 1 on 1. The blue balls means “yes”, so the score of skill level of the novice entrepreneurs of the first skill (craftsman skills) is 4 out of 5. The habitual entrepreneur has a lower score here, 3 out of 5. 5. In the fifth and last section three graphs should be presented, showing skill level and relevance (Y-axis) compared to portfolio size (X-axis). Also a remarkable conclusion should be presented here.
Elements to include in the infographic
Visuals are completely free format. The infographic does NOT needs to be compliant with the Nyenrode corporate identity. Inspiration from www.nyenrode.nl may be drawn, but this is fully up to the designer. The icons and visuals in the attached briefing pages are for informational/sketching use only. The designer is free in designing elements, as long as all sections and information are covered.
Texts are still under review and should be possible to modify. Texts which can be copy pasted are attached separately in a MS Word file. Again, keep in mind we do not want you to stick to the page layout or visuals in the mockup, feel free to experiment! However, there still is a limit of 2 A4 pages, to allow us to use this in print. Because of the print requirement, we prefer vectorized graphics for easy scaling.
Every design category has flexible pricing for all budgets. Infographic starts at $599.

I really loved the logo Y28 made for me. He had a great sense for what I was looking for and really captured the sense and vibe of my contest brief really well. I highly recommend Y28 for anyone looking for an expert designer who takes the time to really understand and breath life to your ideas.
Along the way, they met lots of talented designers…
We think contests are a super fun way to get design.
