hansenr got their new infographic by running a design contest:
Contest: Create the introductory ISLE image!

Story to tell in the infographic
We need an illustration which simultaneously captures the purpose of ISLE, it's components and tools, and it's plans for the future. The purpose of this drawing/graphic would be to show to potential ISLE supporters, as well as to be displayed at events such as conventions and conferences, as well as having the potential to be the "introduction" to ISLE websites, presentations, or literature. More info about the specific design below:
Data to include in the infographic
Elements to include in the infographic
We really want a catchy and creative introductory image, one that would capture the same feeling/essence seen in the introductory "inBloom" video ( seen here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N1sU_i9fK8s ), to purvey the idea that this is about/for kids. What is complicated about this is we have a very specific end goal in mind coming from a very, very vague general idea. I will put as much information in this section as I can to point in the correct direction: The original goal of this project was to simply create an image that was easily presented and could be shown off. This is represented in the two image files containing the slogan "Life Learner." These two contain roughly the same data, and clearly show off the original idea, but now we would like to take it further and make some adjustments. To start with, I will describe changes that must be made to the idea as a whole, as we have a whole new concept in mind. Afterwords, I will specify specific alterations that must be made to our original drawings, though hopefully they will still be very beneficial to you. The original plan was to describe everything in "circles," which represent those tools and services provided by ISLE. There was also some play with the idea of "data islands." We would now like to shift this idea to better announce the idea that this is all to benefit children. Thus, INSTEAD of data islands and circles, we would like to see "concentric circles," which inspired the idea of an "etch-a-sketch" or a "spirograph" image; common educational children's toys rather than a vague idea of generic circles. These could either contain the fields mentioned in the other drawings, or be used to animate the sections. At the most extreme of this idea, an etch-a-sketch drawing a Spirograph and also writing details within the concentric circles. This is not a requirement, just an idea. Confused? Hopefully not. That said, if something even more creative and constructive could be created out of the idea of "data islands," we would certainly consider it, though we've largely deviated from this original scheme.
Specific alterations that we need from our original drawing: 1) We no longer want to use the terminology "Tools," but instead would like to see "Modules" 2) We no longer want the heading "Data ISLEs" to appear anywhere. 3) In the Vehicles section, "Virtual Bus?" must be changed to "Project Wildwood" 4) All "sub" or bullet points under the general headings need to be removed (i.e. under Career Center it lists "AVC, Programs, Dual Credit," etc etc. These are not required) 5) We would like to change the term "Struggling Learner" to "the Disconnected Learner" 6) The field "athletics" is now "Wellness and Play" 7) Programming/Engineering is now "STEAM Discovery" 8) The term CoolHub can not appear anywhere. Instead use "Mentoring Engine" or "Mentoring Network" 9) Change Personalized Learning to "Personalized Learning Innovation" 10) These two further "Vehicles" need to be added: - COSN - ICE 11) "Teacher Feast," seen under Vehicles, must now be a tool and be renamed simply "The Feast" 12) Add "Professional Learning" as a vehicle 13) Remove "e-Portfolio" 14) Remove any mention of Canvas 15) Instead of "Content Management" and "Safari Montage," we would like to see "Content Management" and "Content Delivery" 16) We may like to incorporate the ISLE logo somewhere, this is included as a file but can also be seen at the ISLE website. 17) General idea: "The Life Learner Project" is not necessary, nor does it need to be the central focus, though it certainly can be. We would like more focus to be put on either ISLE, the Disconnected Learner, or the idea of "Starting Somewhere" The whole idea behind the project is to increase collaboration between not just teachers and students, but school to school and district to district. In much the same way doctors now can easily share needed patient data, our goal is to help Teachers and Administrators be able to share useful student data. Not only that, but to create useful resources for teachers to better aid their students.
