shanrahan got their new infographic by running a design contest:
Climate change info-graphic to educate staff and the community
Check out shanrahan's Infographic contest…
Story to tell in the infographic
We would like our info-graphic to communicate to our customers and staff the future impacts of climate change. There are heaps of pictures and graphic that show the impacts on Victoria or Australia but we need one that shows the impacts on our service area which is a small area in the west of Melbourne.
Data to include in the infographic
Sea levels will rise by between 0.39 and 0.89m by 2090. Dangerous bush-fire weather has increased and is expected to increase further. Annual rainfall will decrease by between 3.5 and 10.4%. The time spent in drought is likely to increase over the coming decades. When it does rain it will be more intense, rainfall intensity is likely to increase by 6% by 2040. The number of days of 35 degrees Celsius per year is likely to double by 2050. By 2050 Melbourne's climate could be more like the current climate of Clare in South Australia than our current climate.
Elements to include in the infographic
We are keen to emphasise how future climate could be similar to Clare in South Australia. Whether that is through showing this visually or in some other form we are open to ideas. Where possible using the CWW colour scheme (shown in the attached images) and adding in the CWW logo in somewhere would be preferred.
I have attached an example of an infographic that has been developed for Victoria. This has elements of what we want, but is very basic. We would like one that is a bit more creative and visual appealing and relevant to CWW's service area. The elements that we do like is how it has the map of Victoria and inserts the facts with little visual cues (e.g. the sun to represent increasing hot days). Open to other ideas though. You can find maps and other information about CWW at this website http://www.citywestwater.com.au/about_us/where_we_fit_in.aspx
