Vibrant, intersectional, dynamic conference logo for Intersectional Justice Retreat (99nonprofits)

The Center for Intersectional Justice is an independent nonprofit organisation based in Berlin dedicated to advancing equality and justice for all by combating intersecting forms of structural inequality and discrimination in Europe. We envision a world free of systemic oppression in which each individual has access to resources, voice, power and safety. Such a world will only emerge if structural, institutional and historical barriers that have led to marginalization, invisibilization and lack of access and opportunity for minority groups, including women, People of Color and Black people, religious minorities, people with disabilities, members of the LGBTQI+ community, working-class people, are addressed. At CIJ, we are committed to making visible and gradually dismantling the global hierarchies which continue to place some groups above others, to allow the equitable, fair and non-oppressive treatment of all people. CIJ would like to create a logo that reflects our ethos and values, as part of a project we are planning for 2021. In the summer, we will host a week-long summer Intersectional Justice Retreat (IJR) that will explore the nature of systemic discrimination and ideate intersectional approaches to addressing these challenges. The IJR will explore the linkages between social justice movements and lessons learned that can be adapted for more collaborative and strategic advocacy. The conference will utilise an Open Space Technology format that allows participants to identify their priorities and engages them in co-creating educational, physical and spiritual spaces for exchange, growth and dialogue. The goal of the retreat is to create a new way of viewing social justice movements and how we organize. As such, we would to have a new logo designed for the conference that reflects a movement or transition from the existing competition within social justice movements, to a more collective vision and way of operating. Our organizational logo is much more simplistic with modern design, but for the IJR we would like something that builds off of this aesthetic in a bit more of a creative way. Our target community is very diverse, as we aim to reach people marginalized by oppression, including Black, Indigenous and People of Color, women, trans-communities, the LGBTI+ community, disabled people and many other who have systematically been pushed to the margins of mainstream society. We focus on supporting people with intersecting identities.
What's your vision?
GOAL: We are looking to develop a logo which clearly shows to our community that we are intersectional, a safe space, and pushing boundaries in imagining a new and impactful world. We want to appear professional yet unconventional in our approach. STYLE: We would like the IJR logo to combine the modern, with the playful, adding a colourful touch that links to our existing brand identity. We also would like to incorporate the following elements where possible: • connected and dynamic • incorporates angular designs (see our website and the use of triangles) • colourful but modern IDEAS: Please see the examples from the pinterest boards. We have tried to include multiple options for the aesthetic to both boards (which are slightly different). We are open to either direction and including something that is pictorial. However, we would like to link the final design with our existing brand elements and colours: namely the bright pink, mustard yellow and aqua-Esque green (see attached documents). Our audience accordingly to social media is mostly women, aged between 25-35 years. Most of our audience is based in Europe, but we do reach people across the globe and in North America in particular. I have added a few previous designs for our own marketing material, including a campaign we created for the U-Bahn.
We have created a few mood boards of the aesthetics or ideas we would like to incorporate. https://pin.it/4NEqtxo https://pin.it/2avFtQX We are committed to working with people that represent a variety of backgrounds, identities and perspectives. We encourage people who have been personally affected by structural/systemic discrimination to submit their designs.

Es war sehr angenehm und konstruktiv mit Wim zusammen zu arbeiten. Er geht optimal auf Wünsche ein und hat zugleich auch eine beratende Funktion. Kann ich nur empfehlen.
Along the way, they met lots of talented designers…
