Tell us a bit about who you are and the people you reach
The City of West Linn is a community where citizens, civic organizations, businesses, and city government work together to ensure that the community retains its hometown identity, quality of life, and natural beauty. Municipal services are provided by City employees and headed by the city manager. The city operates its own police department, a municipal court, water, wastewater and storm water utilities, street operations, planning, building inspection, engineering, fleet management, library, and parks and recreation.
What inspires you and how do you envision the design for your business?
The official West Linn seal was designed and adopted in August 1913. As part of the Centennial Celebration in 2013, the West Linn City Council will like to update the City seal. The new design will be used for the next 100 years. Ideally, the 2013 update will enhance and modernize the existing seal, which is attached to this design brief. Key elements of the existing seal include the Willamette River, Willamette Falls, and the natural beauty of the region.
The natural beauty of West Linn - especially the Willamette Falls depicted in the 1913 version of the seal - are of particular importance to our community. The falls are a unique attribute that should be a focal point of this project.
The City font is Optima. City colors are CMYK: dark green (54, 45, 95, 29); tan (32, 27, 57, 1); brick red (37, 78, 87, 47); light green (45, 27, 83, 4).
The successful seal design will translate in both color and black and white.
