Fleurys did a fantastic job with the design of the Connection Practice boards. She paid careful attention to the instructions and added her graphic design talent. We are very pleased.
Really enjoyed the design and the process.

Tell us a bit about who you are and the people you reach
We are a nonprofit that teaches a social-emotional learning method called the Connection Practice. It helps people resolve challenges through efficiently releasing their negative feelings and accessing their best intelligence.
We have a new product, a set of boards with a Connection Practice Board and a Feelings and Needs Board, which are magnetic. This product makes it easier for people to process whatever comes at them in life. When processing an issue, the individual chooses the appropriate, small magnets from the Feelings and Needs Board and moves them to the Connection Practice Board. Notice in picture 1 below how some of the magnets have been moved from one board to the other.
Although the boards are inter-generational, our target audience is guidance counselors working with at-risk kids.
What inspires you and how do you envision the design for your business?
We had a prototype of the set of two 12 x 18-inch boards made in California (see picture 1). However, the boards are being redesigned by a Chinese company to be 28 x 43 cm and fold in the middle at 21.5 cm (see picture 2). Also the graphics will change as they need to adjust to the fold and look more professional. Hence the need for this contest…
The Connection Practice Board (picture 3) will be referred to as CPB and the Feelings and Needs Board (picture 4) will be referred to as the FNB.
The new design: The CPB (picture 3) will have the title at the top as it does now. To the right of it will be the Connection Practice logo (picture 5). Under the title, you will place the tagline (empathy + insight = connection) which is currently at the bottom of the board.
The rest of the CPB has words written on it with blanks to be filled in with small magnets or erasable marker (picture 3). The words on the board can't change but the graphic look could be improved. The magnets are currently 2.75 x .75 inches but will be resized to 6.625 x 1.75 cm., so they will need that size blank for placement on the CPB.
The line that says “If another person is involved…” will probably need to be placed above the fold for everything to fit.
The line below the fold that is “10. My action plan: ___________” can be reduced from two blank lines to one blank line.
The FNB (picture 4) currently has two columns. However, now the title and the 30 Feelings words magnets will be put above the fold. The title and the 30 Needs words magnets will be put below the fold.
The boards need color to guide people where to put the magnets. Feelings words magnets are placed on light green on the FNB and have a light green line on each magnet. Needs words magnets are placed on dark green on the FNB and have a dark green line on each magnet. All colors used are based on harmonizing with the Connection Practice logo.
In picture 6, you see the complete template for the old design, which includes the pictures of the magnets. If for some reason, you don't see the complete template in this posting, I can send it by e-mail.
The magnets are numbered, each with either a light green stripe for Feelings, or dark green stripe for Needs. We have made a few changes in the words. The correct list of feelings is here, numbered in this order:
The correct list of needs is here, numbered in this order:
9. emotional safety
19. physical safety
23. seen for who I am
26. to belong
27. to be heard
28. to mater
We want to use the branding shown on the front of our Connection Practice Guidebook (picture 7) with logo and the tag line statement: empathy + insight = connection (lower case). However, because of the need for color coding of the magnets, other colors must be used as well.
