What's your vision?
I will be publishing several long-form articles on Medium in the next 3-6 months. I would like to work with someone who can illustrate ideas/concepts and create a delightful design treatment to enhance the text. The subject of the first article is the future of work and covers topics such as artificial intelligence, automation, the gig economy/virtual workforce, and ideas around giving every citizen a working wage whether they are working or not. I have published once before on Medium but relied on photographs and architect’s drawings (http://po.st/bod2015). Here is an example of what I have in mind when I say a ‘delightful design treatment’ (http://po.st/pipino - all the images below come from this). While I like this graphic style please do not feel that you need to emulate it, it is more the overall feel and consistency of the piece that impresses me, details like the small graphics to punctuate the text and divide the sections. For this contest could you please illustrate this passage from our article: “Similarly, chat-bots may be able to communicate with you but they can’t negotiate a deal, and robots can assemble objects on a well-defined production line, but they can’t perform a fiddly task like making a cup of tea in your messy kitchen.”
After this contest I expect to start a 1-to-1 project with the chosen designer and that for the long-form article they would produce 4-6 illustrations and some smaller graphic elements which can be used throughout the text, e.g. drop caps, section dividers and such like. Please view this contest as an audition for the larger project. If all goes well there is the possibility that I'll offer them another project for the next long-form article.

It was great working with slouise. She took on board all our feedback and suggestions, produced the work on time and we are very happy with the final illustrations. Highly recommended.
Along the way, they met lots of talented designers…
We think contests are a super fun way to get design.
