L’Eroica started in 1997 because of one man, Giancarlo Brocci, who admired the values of a past cycling so much that he wanted to reconnect others to the heritage that inspired much Italian history, literature, culture, and music. L’Eroica also created a foundation for the protection and preservation of the last gravel roads in Tuscany. These romantic concepts led to the idea of L’Eroica, an event able to attract thousands of people every year in Gaiole in Chianti, a small village in the province of Siena. From the original event, L’Eroica has grown into a movement able to attract thousands of passionate cyclists. We now offer events in many parts of the world, including California, Japan and South Africa.

Each and every year we create an original artwork/illustration to promote the event in Gaiole and celebrate the spirit and the values of L’Eroica. We are looking for an illustration that simultaneously enhances vintage cycling and the main landscape elements of Gaiole and Chianti. We would include at least one woman.
