Ivy's Melbourne rooftop wall mural
Check out hayley.curcio's Illustration or graphics contest…
We're a little family in Richmond Melbourne who live in a 4-story townhouse. We have a 1-year old, Ivy, and a 4 year old West highland terrier, Hugo.
What's your vision?
The space - We'd like to put some type of artwork/mural on an external wall which we'd get someone local to come in and paint based on the chosen illustration. The wall - We have a plain white external concrete wall which is internal and forms our light well, it goes from our rooftop, through our kitchen, down to Ivy's bedroom. The top third is black, the bottom two thirds are white. The first few metres show into the baby's room, the next show into the kitchen, and the top few metres open out on the rooftop. The size - The size is 330cms x 720cms high (one bedroom wide / 3 stories high) and does not need to be high res, just enough for the painter to interpret onto the wall. Clarifying point: It is 1 wall which is 3 stories high. Each story is 240cm high, so the total height is 720cms. The width is 330cm. Creative notes: - As it's a light well into our townhouse, we don't want anything too dark. - nothing too ‘kiddy’ or 'pretty/feminine', we’d prefer edgy/arty over nursery style (but nothing too scary!) - As we'd like to be able to sell the house in the next 5 years, needs to be versatile/not too offensive - We're open to creative concepts, but love animals (we have a west highland terrier), bees, nature, abstract art, vintage style, Japanese interior style/art, boho style, and edgy Melbourne culture. Our daughter is half Italian. - The colours in our house are mainly white, black, wooden, golf, duck-egg green, yellow, and dusty pink.

Although time zones were different, the desiners communication was great. She took into consideration my ideas and tweaking the design to suit my wishes once she had completed it was never too much trouble.
Along the way, they met lots of talented designers…
