What's your vision?
We need a 1-page map for the interior of our sci-fi/fantasy novel. It is a Kingdom map so the emphasis should be on the fantasy element. We like to describe our world as Star Wars meets Shakespeare, a kind of Renaissance Faire in space. That said, the map doesn't need to be too detailed, as this is going to be viewed on e-Readers and in black and white print. The print version of the book is 5 1/4 x 8 inches. I will upload our "kindergarten style" map that we drew while writing the world, which will give the artist placement of the key locations and elements. The main thing we are looking for is depth and dimension. If you choose to include the castle, know that it's Norman-style (as opposed to French chateau) and does have a large curtain wall surrounding it creating a large courtyard within. This isn't a necessary detail for the map, just a thought for those who might want to incorporate it. Feel free to add roads, rivers, etc as you please but it shouldn't be too busy as we are dealing with a small space.
Here are a few examples of maps that are in the style I'm leaning toward: http://www.ragnarokfantasy.com/upload/image_gal_img/20100412014053_96957.jpg http://images.clipartof.com/small/1080645-Clipart-Sketched-Fantasy-Land-Map-Royalty-Free-Vector-Illustration.jpg
