shygrr1 got their new illustration or graphics by running a design contest:
Illustrate a social network for Minecraft enthusiasts: a hero image and 2 icons needed
Check out shygrr1's Illustration or graphics contest…
Connected Camps offers online camps and courses for kids ages 8-15 in Minecraft, a multiplayer videogame. We run a free, moderated Minecraft server with all kinds of games, events and challenges that kids can participate in, as well as a group of paid week-long courses in Minecraft where kids can learn coding, game design, engineering, architecture, and survival. Our target audience is primarily parents of middle school kids, with a secondary audience being educators. While the site is geared towards adults we want it to communicate that the products we offer are for kids.
What's your vision?
We are doing a "website refresh" to our landing page and are looking for the following illustrations/graphics: --1 hero graphic for the homepage based on this sketch of a social network: https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1Ny8dBIMuBY8kYOY1lvBQgkhdrJ_cYZ-J4hZkJQjJjUQ/edit#slide=id.g1224aaf05e_2_75 (We are trying to convey the idea that our community is made up of a lot of different kinds of people with different expertise and that it is a network--people connecting to other people in a variety of ways.) The network image would include the labels of the different community members, as show in the mock-up (i.e. game designer, redstone engineer, etc.) --2 small icons in the same style as the hero image. One icon is for “Level Up”; the second for “Join our Expert Community”. Please see the image in the link above for more information. Our products are Minecraft-based so we are looking for a style that has some alignment with the blockiness of that game, but that also has a warmth and human quality, as we want to stress the community aspect of our products. Our audience tends to be part of the gaming, maker, and tech communities and are interested both in tech skills and creativity. The style needs to appeal to tweens (have a little-bit of an edge) and be parent-friendly.
our current website: www.connectedcamps.com attached is a sketch of the illustration we need. Once the contest ends we will arrange a 1-1 design contract with the winner to develop a mascot and a set of 8 icons related to the characters already created in the hero image from this contest. The attachment of the Alt Summer Camp webpage shows the categories of icons we will need.
Every design category has flexible pricing for all budgets. Illustration or graphics starts at $349.

It was great working with slouise. She took on board all our feedback and suggestions, produced the work on time and we are very happy with the final illustrations. Highly recommended.
Along the way, they met lots of talented designers…
