What industry do you think your business is most related to?
Tell us a bit about who you are and the people you reach
As rail companies retire facilities, the opportunity to redevelop historic rail yards can infuse new life or further enhance growing urban centers. Diaz & Associates takes great pride in working with community leaders and developers to realize the vision of transforming properties that are in areas of growth. Addressing rail property in our community has been challenging, but rewarding. Through our partnership with landowners and other neighboring stakeholders, we've redeveloped a rail-yard into shopping centers, parking garages, Little League parks and batting cages, mixed-income housing, and a pedestrian and bicycle greenway.
What inspires you and how do you envision the design for your business?
We want you to create an illustration or concept that promotes our site as a more feasable site for a National Ice Skating & Hockey rink with a shopping center. Our site, in your concept, will focus and highlight by illustration that the proposed project will 1) have better Visibility from the Arterial Highway; 2) has the potential of handling the traffic from patrons driving into the game since the Bruckner Blvd main Highway is built to withstand the heavy traffic, unlike the Kingsbridge Armory; 3) the infrastructure of the area is semi industrial so will not interfere with the residential community 4) subways are nearby (6 train); 5) it is close to Manhattan (NYC), 6) it is in the Bronx adjacent to a highway where millions of people drive by on their way to Manhattan, Connecticut, and Queens, 7) patrons will be driving through the site everyday, opposed to the Kingsbridge Armory which doesn't have a highway next to it; 8) that the site will give the Hockey & Ice Skating Stadium extra marketing and bring additional patrons into the stadium.
The latest milk distribution 3D renderings are similar to what we are looking for. 3D Renderings are stronly encouraged and will be considered favorably.
I really like files 7, 8, 9 & 13 to help sell the concept because I belive you can fit it into the dimension provided on the 149th Street project. If you take those designs and incorprate them into the 149th Street land, the job will be completed.
Also, there should be extra views from the Bruckner Highway showing that the Arena is visible and close to the Highway and Manhattan like file aerial 1 through 10. Feel free to go into Google Maps and crop your own view and incorporate the National Ice Skating Arena and Le Bronx Shopping Center in the Background.
Good luck, enjoy and I look forward to selecting several winners.
