What's your vision?
Hi, I would like to design a movie poster in the tone/style of Devs (the Hulu TV show) and Undone (the Amazon TV show). This film (on the poster) is titled "In Search of Sunrise". For mine specifically, I would like to have the main character (see attached) looking out onto a lake as the sun is rising. The sun (and perhaps other parts) should be pixelated/glitchy/hologram to represent that it’s part of a simulation. In the lake, I would like to have either a distorted reflection of the girl (in the style of the sun) or ideally her and her best friend swimming and playing (and glitchy like the sun). The final product should look more animated (like with the Undone poster) than real. I have a technique in photoshop I use. See attached. The synopsis of the film is the following and so that’s what we want to allude to visually: Aya's father is a tech guru who creates an immersive virtual entertainment experience that fully caters to the user's unconscious desires. She feels this invention aims to spite her for not following in his footsteps and proving to her that art can be manufactured. Art, Aya believes, is too rooted in human emotion and therefore no machine can truly replicate the depth of connection that human creativity does. Her dad and others think Aya’s simply scared of the implications if his invention is successful because as a creative soul, it would force Aya into an existential crisis. Though Aya wants to be free, she learns the machine was built in part from her memories without her knowledge. This makes her the only one qualified to playtest the dream-weaving tech. Knowing that her dad’s body has succumbed to a glitch he can’t reprogram, Aya accepts the mission to confirm to him and his Board of Directors that the machine is nothing more than a financial drain. She enters the mind-warping maze of mirrors and memories he made and what she finds is far more sinister than she anticipated. She must search for a key to the riddle of their troubled love and a vision that will free her own creative voice and ultimately redeem all their damage.
The only text on the image should be the title: "In Search of Sunrise" and in much small writing somewhere contact info (I'll share the final details once a designer is selected). For now, just generic Name, Phone, Email. The final image is supposed to look rotoscoped - a film technique that uses live action video and paints over it. I have a technique I use in photoshop when I take real images and apply a filter to it to make it look "cartoon". The process is that once the visual is done, I apply these settings: 1) duplicate image 2) make copy smart object 3) add filter>>poster edges 0,0,4 4) unsharpen mask 90,5,10 5) stylize >> oil paint 1, 7, .1, 0 6) unsharpen mask, 60,5,5 7) make new copy of smart object and move to top 8) add poster edges 0,1,6 9) add oil paint 1, 7, .1, 0 10) make it an overlay and 40% opacity 11) merge to top layer (shift, alt, windows E) 12) add high pass (5) 13) desaturate 14) blend mode to overlay 15) add adjustment level layer 16) move center to 1.3 on levels
