He/she changed things when I requested a different color or a simpler look. Would work with them again.

The Entomological Society of America (ESA) is the largest organization in the world serving the needs of insect researchers (entomologists). ESA's 7,000 members from across 60 countries are mostly researchers, educators, PhD students, pest management professionals, etc. --a very scientific and academic, informal group.
While our name includes "America", we are a truly global society so our artwork and themes should not focus on the U.S. only.
What inspires you and how do you envision the design for your business?
We need an "insect-enthusiast" 4-color graphic to promote our 2018 membership recruitment campaign theme (to attract new members). Our membership is serious about their work (they mostly study or work on research in the insect world) but the theme is a bit playful.
Our campaign theme is, "Help build the colony, recruit for ESA". We'd like the graphic to reflect the theme of an ant colony being built (and include the text in the artwork).
Since we're working with entomologists, the ants should be fairly representative of an actual ant's anatomy (3 body parts and 6 legs).
A horizontal rectangular format will work best.
Nothing too corny and nothing with too much small detail; we want to be able to use this art in our email campaign and on our website-- and maybe print on a small giveaway item or postcard.
We do not need to include the ESA logo in the graphic; it will be used alongside it.
